Litigation Lawyer - Managing Director
Rob Franklin is the Managing Director of Potts Lawyers.
Rob has practised for more than three decades, principally in the areas of commercial litigation and law firm management.
As assistant professor at Bond University Law Faculty, Rob for many years lectured in corporate law, business associations, contract, legal ethics and trust accounting. He has also served on Queensland Law Society Committees including the Litigation Rules Committee and the Occupational Discipline Working Group. He has served on the Queensland Law Society Ethics Committee since 2008 and is a former Chair of that committee.
He focusses mainly on occupational discipline in all professions. In particular, he provides advice to solicitors in their dealings with the Legal Services Commission and the Queensland Law Society. He is a member of the Queensland Law Society Free Legal Advice Panel.
Rob consults on complex white collar offences, risk management and civil litigation matters.
As Managing Director, Rob is responsible for the day to day management of the practice and as client care officer, he seeks to ensure that our services meet our clients’ needs and expectations. Rob believes that the success of any law firm depends on its ability to deliver consistently high standards of service. In criminal and civil litigation, that starts with listening to the client and maintaining a strong communication bond throughout the matter.
“Clients are looking for a dialogue with their lawyer. That involves a free exchange of information and the building of clear expectations.”
One of the areas he thinks lawyers can improve on is communication on costs.
“Clients want to know what their matter will cost and we meet that need by providing fixed fee quotations for each stage of the matter wherever possible.”
