Emma approaches her clients with compassion, their legal issues as a sharp and strategic adviser and the courtroom as a fearless advocate.
Emma completed a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Griffith University. The Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice has proven to be invaluable within the specialty of criminal defence by providing a deeper understanding of a range of issues affecting people that come into contact with the criminal justice system. She has undertaken voluntary work for the Logan Youth Legal Services where she has helped vulnerable members of society.
Emma held an appointment as an Associate to a District Court Judge, before working at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in North Queensland. Emma has a unique skill set and a wealth of experience, having worked for all sides in the justice criminal justice system. Emma resolved that criminal defence was her preferred end of the bar table and has worked exclusively in the area of private client criminal defence since 2011.
Since joining the Potts Lawyers team she has led the defence on some of the firm’s major criminal cases. Emma prides herself on her discretion, which she believes is one reason for her strong practice based on word of mouth referrals.
Emma is recognised as an expert in offences of a sexual nature and manages both complex police investigations and trials.
