Former NRL player Anthony Watts has been fined $1500 for possession of a weapon.
The 26-year-old appeared before the Tweed Heads Magistrate Court on Tuesday morning. He pleaded guilty to possession of perspex knuckle-dusters and has been given 28 days to pay the fine.
Watts, a former Cowboys and Roosters player, is also due to face a Gold Coast court later this month charged with affray.
Police said Watts was involved in a brawl at the Cooly Rocks On Festival at Coolangatta on Saturday.
A man in his sixties was punched in the face during the incident and later taken to hospital after trying to film the fight on his mobile phone.
It is understood Watts turned himself in to police yesterday.
